Culture of Security ISP Initiative

Since the beginning of 2005, MARNet has taken a leading role in the Culture of Security Initiative that was supported by the 5 key players in the Internet Arena in Macedonia and the USAID’s Project - Macedonia Competitiveness Activity.

Registration of Internet domain names and sub-domains is crucial to the operation of the Internet

The MarNET Network Information Center (MARNET-MIC) is the registrar for the .mk domain.
MARNET is also authorized to register sub-domains for companies and institutions within this domain range (.com.mk, .gov.mk, org.mk, etc.).

In accordance with the decision of MARNET`s Managing Board on 8 May 1995, and in compliance with the rights delegated to it by IANA, the hierarchical addressing model has been chosen for the prime Macedonian domain “.mk”.

In accordance with the principle of hierarchic addressing, the prime provider for administration and management of the Macedonian domain “.mk” recognizes secondary and tertiary sub-domains.
MARNET delegates the right for management of secondary and tertiary domain names in accordance with the addressing mechanisms adopted by Marnet .

Sub-domain users under the prime Macedonian domain “mk” have the right to register only tertiary sub-domains under one of the above listed secondary sub-domains.
The number of sub-domains which can be registered by the user is unlimited.
